Title: Service Centre Supervisor

HOURS OF WORK: 40 Hours per week Monday - Friday
Join our vibrant, inclusive community in Complex Facilities working on Defence Equipment. You will be responsible for the preparation, planning and supervision of the internal Service Life Extension Programme (SLEP) based in Stafford to contribute to the total delivery of the SLEP within Amey Defence equipment. The role also includes the supervision and of an engineering team, including their development, performance, safety and adherence to process, legislative and continual improvement.
The position of SLEP Centre Supervisor is integral to delivering a consistent quality across asset lines and managing engineers’ productivity and effectiveness in a centralised business model
What you will do:
- Reporting to the SLEP Centre Manager
- Support and assist team members by identifying training requirements, performance issues and demonstrating where improvements can be achieved.
- To improve communication between engineers and core business departments to ensure that all colleagues feel part of the One MITER Team (MITER: Military Integrated Training Equipment Resource) and through regular communication are aware of the business objectives, individual and team performance and customer issues.
- To employ effective people supervisory skills to manage the engineering team to coordinate objectives and tasks to support the ongoing improvement of the team’s performance within the Centre.
- Observe and comply with all Company policies, including but not limited to, Health and Safety, Van Policy, Ethics Policy, Company Expense Policy, IT User policy and all policies and appendices within the Contract of Employment.
- To ensure that all quotes raised to cover the cost to rectify all non-fair wear and tear repairs are prepared in accordance with the agreed procedures and submitted for approval and execution within the agreed timelines and to the required KPI standard
- Ensure adequate and appropriate engineering resource is available to provide the required output of SLEP assets during normal working hours and at all other times throughout the calendar year, including weekend cover, as required.
- Ensure all maintenance tasks are completed within the contractual timeframes and KPI requirements, including managing and always minimizing Work in Progress (WIP).
- Working in conjunction with Service centres and SME’s to resolve rectification issues and complaints arising out of repairs, customer issues and Performance Improvement Opportunity reports.
- Ensure high quality, consistent customer service is delivered to all customers, supporting regular meetings with all relevant stakeholders across MOD and the user community.
- Carry out inspections and quality checks of equipment prior to and after any SLEP work has been carried out to ensure work standards stay consistent.
- Any other duties deemed appropriate within the scope of the role and in line with skills and experience.
- Responsible for the delegation of work, whilst supervising and mentoring a team of plant and HGV engineers.
- Aim to achieve a healthy balance between workshop duties and office duties with a target ratio of 75:25.
- By liaison with the Equipment Sustainability and Refurbishment Manager and SLEP Manager, apply cost effective solutions to matters related to all equipment maintenance and use of third-party maintenance contractors.
- Other responsibilities include, but not limited to, liaison with users of our service centres to offer support to other parts of the business, where required.

What you will bring:
- Experience in construction related plant/MHE/HGV use and/or maintenance.
- Good levels of people supervisory skills, having demonstrated an ability to work in a team and have a desire to promote customer service excellence
- Excellent communicator to internal and external groups
- Strong understanding of cultural differences and the ability to adapt accordingly
- Solutions based approach to dealing with issues raised
- Understanding of and application of H&S requirements
- Demonstrate a high level of commercial/financial awareness
- City & Guilds, NVQ LVL 2 or 3 or equivalent in mechanical engineering
- Possess a current driving licence
- HGV Class C (Desirable)
- Previous experience of supervising in a Service Centre type environment
